In my opinion, there is no simple yes or no answer to the question if immigrants should adopt the lifestyle of the country they settle in. One is certain: they no longer live in their countries and their cultures. They are surrounded by people and culture that was probably unknown for them before. This isn't an easy situation for them.
On one hand they are forced by society to behave like local people, to dress like them, to eat what they eat. But on the other hand, they cant forget their own language, culture, traditions. They need to remember where they came from. If their children are born in a foreign country , they should learn about their origins to understand who they really are.
A good example here are African people living in France. European and African mentalities are very different. The climate is different, the dress code is different, the food is different. In spite all those differences, those African people manage to settle in much colder Europe. What I really admire in them, is that they dont forget where they came from and they are not ashamed to show that. I see them often walking in the streets in their traditional clothes. Some people look at them in a strange way, some people smile.
To conclude, I would like to say, that living in a different country, different society is not easy. Immigrants should partially adopt local lifestyle, as it will make their existence in new environment much easier, but they are not allowed to forget where they came from, they should keep their tradition, culture, language and pass it to their children.
